Presentation excercise looking into a target market of 16-23 year olds

Title and Masthead

'The now' : As the audience is 16- 23 we thought young people would listen to current music so ' NOW' relates to this. The masthead will be in red so it stands out and appeals to both sex's.

Cover Image

It will be a band very much like Kings of Leon and will not be posed, good fun image, action shot, messing around, use of inflatable instruments to add fun factor and to show its not serious but also an interesting image.

An article to feature in magazine

' On tour with (coverband)' it will be a personal interview so readers feel involved, lots of laughter and informal language. It will begin : As we knock on the foor of room 101 all we can hear is the blaring music, cracking of bottle opening and deep chuggings of cigarettes.

Regular Features

' Whats NOW?' basically a summary of this week n music e.g new artists, gigs and gossip. A different band each week will give fashion advice as this age group tend to follow musicians fashion and they feel connected to the band.

This presentation was presented to the class and it is describing the choices made in out first draft:

Presentation of first draft

This is an image of the first draft:

  •  Choice of image - the image is a sixth form student who has recently made a discovery for the archeology group hence the skull in the image. A bright background stands out and draws in readers.
  • Font- The masthead is really eye catching as its bold and the white text really stands out against the re background. The star forming part of the exclamation mark adds character to the masthead. All font is white so it is clear and easily read over images.
  • Title- 'Get 2 know!' this appeals to the target audience of 11-18 year olds as it uses abbreviations and is quick and catchy to pronounce. Also it can easily moved to other products.
  • Features- All of the images are related to stories in the magazine as you can see from the sceince based image on the front cover then the image of head boy. They will lure in people as the images are interesting and stand out.
  • Plans for context page- We follow out colour scheme throguht o this page. We will also include all stories, quizzes and news which will be laid out into sections by colour co ordination this will make pages easy to find and easier to pick the pages you are interested in.
